Ensuring that students are well-prepared for academic success is critical to increasing the number of students who make it through the "educational pipeline." GEAR UP focuses on building capacity of schools and teachers to prepare students for college.

Researched-based Demonstration Projects: GEAR UP partners with low-income middle schools to serve as demonstration sites for intensive interventions (i.e. Advancement via Individual Determination) that incorporate comprehensive, school-wide reforms grounded in research and effective practice.

Innovation Grant Program: GEAR UP funds matching grants to launch new programs that promote college readiness.
