The new Cenntenial Scholars
Program will grant $1,000 to each UH-bound Hawai`i high school graduate
who has a 3.8 unweighted grade point average or who scores 1800
on the three-part SAT Reasoning testa and submit a high school transcript
(For UH Community Colleges, transcripts are not a part of the application
so they must be submitted to the financial aid department at the
campus you are considering to attend.) The scholarships are based
on merit only and "guaranteed" to qualified students regardless
of financial need. The program will begin with the current class
of high school seniors who are Hawai`i residents and who will enter
college in fall 2007. Current UH students are not eligible.
All 10 campuses in the
UH system will award the Centennial Scholarships. Recipients who
maintain a 3.0 GPA in college will continue to receive $1,000 ear
year for up to four years at a baccalaureate campus or up to two
years at community colleges. Students who start out with a Centennial
Scholarship at a community college will continue to receive the
award if they transfer to a four-year campus within the UH system
and maintain their 3.0 GPA. For more information contact the financial
aid office at the UH campus you plan to attend.
Note: UH Manoa students
who meet both criteria of the 3.8 GPA and the 1800 on the SAT will
receive an additional $1,000 per year.
